call ducks-purpose?

must be the year of the foxes.... we have one hanging around too. It comes around the fence during the day, no telling what comes out at night.

These are some pictures of a pair of gray calls I shipped to a set of twin boys in Colorado Monday. The pair of Gray Calls got there yesterday moaning and they did not know they were coming as it was a surprise between their mom and dad. I thought you would enjoy to see these two boys with their dream ducks that they thought they may get next year at a show somewhere. I shipped them my second best mating for the year because I want to be partners with this family with my ducks. My hope is in two years we can swap ducks with each other and this way I can introduce fresh blood to my strain as I need it. I am so happy that the family like them and they have a new home in the great state of Colorado. Merry Christmas boys. bob

their original purpose was to call to the wild ducks... to attract their attention. The hunters would take these little cuties with them hunting! I am on my way to pick up two more shortly!

Those are some very nice calls what blood lines are the white and the grayfrom ?

The market hunters used the calls back in the old days as live decoys. I think they tied a string to thier foot called theathering and had a weight say two pounds. They would put maybe four our five in a lot of wooden decoys and then after the hunt take the theather connection off and put them in a box, their coat pockets or what ever. They would not let them fly away and I am sure they were as important to the market hunters as thier dogs to fetch the dead ducks they shot.

How much they cost back then maybe 24 cents. They did not look like the calls we have today.

i got mine from duckluck , shes in this forum... she has very good bloodlines as she hatches, raises, and shows her calls. ( and won ) . when I got mine I told her I only wanted pets and if they were not top of the line that was okay... Ive never really asked her anything about that part ??!!!
