Call Eggs that is turning bruised color

Mrs. Turbo :

Sounds like bacteria may have killed the embroy. I normaly mist my call eggs with warm water and a few drops of oxin in the sprayer...this kills any bacteria that may be on the egg, most everyone will tell you that call duck eggs are the hardest egg to hatch...

I also add some stuff to the misting water. I use a little Brinsea Incubation Disinfectant.

Yes, it is always disheartening to make it to hatch day and they don't hatch. Hope you have better luck next time.

I had 3 eggs from my test hatch do that. They all were bad. 2 even cracked. One just started to smell. That bruising is not a good sign.

When I let my hens set I usually always get a 100% hatch rate. Calls make the best mothers.

I don't even try and incubate them anymore.....I let the mama's do it for me. They do a much better job!!
