Maude is my 2yr old EE roo and he’s constantly making these quick clucking noises. It seems like a personality quirk as none of the other roos do it to the same frequency as he does. I can only guess it’s some kind of “POSSIBLE DANGER?!” sound but I am really at a loss. He’ll even do it while he’s in the middle of eating and choke himself, bless his heart. Otherwise, he’s a very good rooster and easygoing while also being The Boss™️ of the flock. He does it to the point I’d consider him highstrung? But not, you know? He’s otherwise calm besides constantly making those sounds and crowing. You can catch him making the sound at the very beginning and right at the end of the video before he walks off.

side note: yeah, bread isn’t good for them. they get it very, very rarely.

Mine do it as a type of an alert. Occasionally mine will do it out of excitement, when I bring treats.
Okay, so it is a kind of “is that possible danger?” sound. Which I guess would make sense, he is a very good look out to the point even the ducks listen to him when he raises the predator alarm.

I see it more of an alert to get everyone's attention.

The danger alarms I hear my boys sound off are Roars, Trills(Sounds like squealing), Egg Song(Followed after the roar, or trill occasionally)

Its an alarm sound. The alarm is about...you, lol. It doesn't matter to the rooster if you are the source of all food and water for the entire flock. To the rooster, you are a potential threat, and if you move around too quickly, or if you are carrying something in your hands, he will sound an alarm. Its kind of annoying, but it means that the rooster is doing his job--guarding his flock.
