Calling all Dog owners!

Hi everyone :)

Frank (17 months) and Abby (10 months) are brother and sister, different litters. Both are English Bull Terrier/American Pit Bull mixes and share the same parents. Midge is a Silkie Terrier and almost 13 years old.

We don't do shows or any breeding.

Training tips...I would say remember not to call your dog to you and then punish him, start leash training early and when you set limits don't backtrack. If you have no experience training a dog, get some professional help and experience BEFORE you even consider a shock collar. Mostly, have fun with your puppy and give him lots of love. Rewards for good behavior outside of training are important...a good boy and some love when he does a good thing at some random time are more valuable than training sessions sometimes.

Good advice here, but also think of this: there is NEVER a time when you are NOT training your dog! Every interaction with your dog is a time when he is learning something. So be consistent. If you don't want him to jump on you when he's muddy and you're dressed for church, don't allow him to jump on you EVER. He can't make those distinctions. Jumping up is either ALWAYS okay or it's NEVER okay. His mind is like a computer. Yes/no. On/off. Bite/no bite. He can't learn it's okay to bite you, but not the grandkids. Or okay when YOU want to play, but not when HE wants to play. And so on. Dogs are not people. They are wonderful companions for people, and we can learn, with effort to speak their language, and they can learn to respond to some of our words, but they will never think exactly as we do.

We just a puppy four days ago. She is 6 weeks old and her name is daisy. We are assuming by the rest of the litter she is a pitbull Rotweiller mix but she looks like a hound.

What is the mother?

ETA: she almost looks like a German shorthaired pointer?

I have 4 dogs in my family, 3 miniature Schnauzers and one Pug.* Finnegan (Finn), Sebastian (Bash), Rudolf Grey (Rudy), and Smudge. I do not breed or show my dogs.

I would suggest you to socialize your new puppy as much as possible! I took my pup Rudy out almost daily. To the park, friend’s houses, car rides, etc. and I made sure to introduce him to strangers, men, women, children, people with different skin color, people of different ages, and other dogs.

*I do not encourage/support the purchase of dogs with brachycephaly

That is so true! They're like having kids aren't they? Always learning and testing limits.

They are not as lazy as they look.
All rescues.
Ben is the blue Doberman. He's 8.5 years old.
Skittles is the rat terrier mix and is 11 years old. He is my father's dog. I adopted him when my father died.
Fuji is the Miniature Pinscher. She'll be 13 in November.
None of them are allowed near the chickens!
All of them are highly socialized. They go everywhere dogs are allowed and are very well mannered. Because they are taken so many places, they all love going to the vet. They are never nervous about it because they go for rides in the car all the time. That's important.
