They thought he was and I was given him as a roo, but I wanted to make sure. He doesnt crow and is the most skittish bird I have ever seen.

My girls are skitish when they are young and how long have u had him? He might still be adjusting to the change.

She recently went broody. It took 5 days to break her, and then she was right back to laying in 4 days. She is my most dependable layer; probably lays 13 out of 14 days.

I had one very mean Orpington hen (she walked up to me and ate all the skin off of my knee) but all the rest have been the best birds I have ever owned.

Wow, she must be the flock's exfoliation expert!

I have Buff Orpingtons & I love them so much. I have other breeds too, but they all have their unique personalities. I have found the Orpingtons to be very good natured, even the Roosters. One of my Roos helped in being surrogate papa to 8 young EEs, he was amazing! His name is Romeo, hatched out from my own Buff Orpington parents in 2020 & let me tell ya, hatching out your own is the most precious experience...yup, my 1st hatching chicks, I can't even put into words, the feeling when you see those 1st little "pecking the way out" marks on the egg that's been checked daily and tended to lovingly by mama surrogate hens!!!
Anyway...let me share a few pics. (When 2 hens went broody, my Brahma & RIR, I collected fertilized eggs, each section here is a different breed, so eggs are pure Buff Orpingtons, RIRs, Wyandottes, Marans & EEs)
Buff Orpington hens are Amber, Topaz, Missy, Sweetie, Henny & Honey.
Roos are Romeo, Teddy & Juno.
They're all friendly but Romeo is most outgoing. If I call him he comes running, if I hold my arm out he jumps up on it & snuggles for hugs! He loves hugs, sitting on my lap & being fussed over, & posing for photos.

Oh my Romeo is a handsome boy!! I completely agree about seeing your own chickens brood and hatch babies and take care of them. There’s just nothing more beautiful and heart warming to see! I love it! And the way the little balls of fluff run around following momma and hiding in her feathers.

So many pretty babies!! Are these the babies that are now bigger and on the EE page? Or do you have more?
