I talk to the animals.

Wild animals can be surprisingly trusting if you're quiet, calm, and move smoothly. I had a local family of skunks get quite used to me and would get as close to me as that bunny did for you. I think they all succumbed to traffic, though. I'd smell skunk spray, see one on the busy street behind my house, and there would be one less in the family. After a few months, I never saw any of them again.
