The Challenges of Indoor Living… Lockdown for Rabbits and Guinea Pigs?
Taking place live on Tuesday 23rd November 2021, 8:00pm GMT.
Presented by John Chitty BVetMed CertZooMed MRCVS
About the webinar:
Many rabbits and Guinea pigs are kept indoors rather than (as traditionally) outdoors. On the surface this would seem safer and more controllable, but indoor living can bring its own challenges for prey species.
This webinar will look at some of the medical problems associated with indoor living as well as possible social issues. It will discuss how to mitigate some of these issues and how living with predators may be made easier.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the differences between indoor and outdoor husbandry
- Understand some of the different medical issues
- Understand how to reduce stresses on indoor-living rabbits and guinea pigs
- Understand the importance of correct socialisation and group structure
- Understand how to manage issues once they’ve begun
