Calling all sebastopol owners!!!

Yes..its me Jerry....The Sebs are really my wife's deal ....but I have to tell you her Sebs are obsessed with me, they follow me everywhere..LOL.

On hatching the eggs, people seem to have alot of problems hatching them out...we have had pretty good luck , but I have an old redwood incubator from the 50's and we let the eggs cool for about 15 minutes a day, hand turn them and keep them laying on their side, with no egg turner...seems to work.

And yes I believe that last pair from the Nationals was from Overtons line..not sure if that is a good thing or not. Brice Wonders helped my wife (Rebecca) pick out a good Gander to go with the female, I know he raised and showed them for years. I have a friend who is a large waterfowl judge and fanatic, and he swears the standard needs to be changed on the sebs..seems he likes them to have longer bodies, which I am thinking the females are suppose to have very round bodies...please correct me if I am wrong.

The rest of the gang came from Freddie Gregory here in Kentucky, he got his directly from some breeder that imported from Europe years ago..I know he really dislikes the Holderread's line of Sebs...not sure why though. Anyway Freddie has had his for years and like everyone else has good ones and not so good ones...but some really, really good ones. You can go to our website and see more pictures of her geese there..

My wife likes to raise them, but did end up selling too many babies this year and I think she plans on not selling as many this spring, and actually holding back at least a few more for showing.

I know Audrey and have purchased Sebs from her and she has some really good Sebastopols.

Some people are crazy for Dave H stuff and others not.
Personal preference I guess.
Does Freddie have a website or email addy to contact him ?

Love Gary & Audrey!

I saw some of his Toulouse at the Ohio Nationals.
I was very tempted to buy some.
Do you have any other Sebs from Audrey?
I love the one in the photo!
Where are your Sebs from?

My stock is from Holderread's--but the last batch of goslings I bought I didnt like. I talked to Gary about them and he told me that Audrey had nice ones. I have been buying from Gary for three years. This will be the first group I have from Audrey.

I've heard both pro's and con's about DH stock but it goes without saying nobodys birds are all going to turn out good. I've had to cull probably 50% of the birds I've purchased....but they make nice pets which is what most people want anyway. But some were so downright psycho they had to go in the freezer.

I know Audrey and shes a wonderful gal and has really done a great job at breeding Sebastopol Geese.
She has won on the national show scene on both the east and the west coasts.
Heads up: for anybody who wants to buy from Audrey she typically doesn't ship day olds but rather sells each years crop of goslings in the fall.
Pick up at the farm(in Ohio) or meet up with her at a show.
She does not sell hatching eggs.

Help, I have great Seb guilt. Purchased an 8mo female for my son for Christmas 07. The lady (Lapeer, MI) said it should flock with my 2 Pekins so I just got one. She was lonely and depressed so back I went for another female....shortly after Christmas the first one went broody, got head mites (treated that) went blind and got angle wing and now when she gets nervous she just goes in circles:(. The 2nd we bought for her is either a gander or one very determined lesbian LOL. He 's even mating the Pekins.

What have I done wrong. DH fenced about 1/2 acre or so with pines for shelter. They have a whole small barn for shelter, heated water, I feed layer crumbles with fruits and veggies.

Thought I should get him another mate to take pressure off the ducks and my poor blind and looney baby but I just can't afford another seb. Would he bond/mate with a Toulouse or Embden?

yes he would bond with another breed of goose. Until then I would seperate him by himself before he hurts somone. My gander broke his girls wing last year during mating season. There is a sebastopol form ... email me if you want the address.
