Calling all teenagers

A gun.

Some people hate to do that, but if they won't do anything on their end and you can't put up a really good fence, it's your option. It's your property. The dogs are theirs. It is your neighbor's responsibility to control them, and if they don't it's up to you to get rid of them.
That is horrible. You could call animal control, take it to a shelter, confront the neighbor, etc

No need to kill an innocent pet acting on instincts

And if you can't do any of those? Well, the gun.

If MamaPoult's neighbor is as bad as I think they are, then getting the neighbor is a option.

Calling a shelter might work, but if she's in the middle of nowhere there is no chance.

Putting up a fence might work.

But if a dog is determined to kill it will find a way and sadly will have to be removed, especially if it is a threat to both livestock and human.

I should clarify on my part that my property is tiny. a dog could get to my chicks in a matter of seconds and there wouldn't be time to see if it is friendly or approachable. I would never want to kill an innocent animal but if it comes between my animals and some else's, I will choose mine

that was my first thought as well. although everyone in my family thinks I am wrong and crazy for thinking stuff like that. My chicks are more important than a strangers dog but I guess most people wouldn't get that
You're not crazy or wrong.

Do what is right.

For both of you:
It's YOUR responsibility too keep your animals safe, put up a fence, predator proof your Coops and runs. If a dog can get in any other predators can too, you can't expect to shoot any animals on your property all the time. Killing a pet dog isn't the right thing, ever. The dog doesn't need to pay with its life for the lack of appropriate animal housing

That us not to say is an animal is ACTIVLY cauing harm or being dangerous that you shouldn't protect yourself and your own animals but killing should be last resort

You can still have adequate proofing. If a dog really wants that it will give you problems.

Think of it this way:

You have a choice: Leave the predator and keep you animals at risk, especially if it is a determined predator that won't stop.

Or do everything you can to not kill it, and if that doesn't work, kill it and your animals will be safe.

It's better one creature loses its life than the however many you have.

Dogs do cause damage. I have seen them in the farming areas here carrying chickens. They are vicious.

We all have different opinions and it's clear you do not have to deal with what those of us in these areas have to deal with. I think we should stop this discussion because it will turn into what I call a "POO SHOW"
