it's swelling a bit. i cant feel it. it went numb when i first hurt it and then i started feeling pain and now it's numb again
@HorseGirlAbby
Well, if it's numb that means there's no circulation, and that's pretty bad. Did you ice it at all? That could numb the feeling in it for a bit.

i iced it for a bit. should i try moving it more for circulation or something?
Probably not a good idea to move it too much. How's the color of it? If it starts going pale or blue you're going to have to get help, because that means there's a severe lack of oxygen and the tissue is going to start dying.

it doesn't look too discolored. its a little purple on the part that came out and the middle part where it bent back but that's from brusing

i just ran it under warm water because that always brings back feeling to my hands in the cold. its working. i'd say pain like a 6

Oh yeah, that's normal. I would hold off on more ice until you can get feeling back.

Ok, that's good. Does it hurt more or the same when you move it?

Ok, honestly I don't know at this point. You've got circulation, you can at least move it a bit, right? There's not really much more you can do. I'm guessing it probably was dislocated, and it might be totally fixed now or it might still be sprained a bit. Since you can move it it's not likely broken. So you can take pain meds, put ice on it, etc. Although you'll probably have to warm up your hand again after ice to restore circulation. And put a towel between your hand and the ice pack, you don't want it directly on your hand. You can buddy tape it to one of your other fingers to stabilize it, that can help make it feel better.
