I smashed it in a wood splitter two Fridays ago. Took the tip off and the whole fingernail. Got surgery on it yesterday but now it hurts.

So this is interesting. They did a skin graft but also an amniotic graft, which contains cells from a human placenta to encourage regeneration. I also have a temporary aluminum "fingernail" to protect the nail bed.
