Veterans Day is more than a day off. It is a day of honoring and remembering.

Me, my son's father, and two of my brothers served. I had the shortest enlistment of us all - 6 years. We were all either Navy or Army. My son leaves for bootcamp on December 5th - the first and only Marine in our lineage...lol. I'm nervous for him, but very proud too, that he will be a future veteran.

I'm rather saddened that this is all the response we can get for Veterans Day.

I might have said it elsewhere in this thread but here goes anyway.

Uncle at Chosin Reservoir, Korea and Viet Nam.
Uncle at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked.
Grandfather in WWI.
Another uncle in WWII.
Two brothers US Army.
Daughter US Army, Airborne.
Sister in law US Air Force.
Brother in law US Army.
Nephew at the Air Force Academy.
Ancestors in the Civil War.
A few other relatives have also served.

On of my two closest Cousins is in the Navy, while the other is in the Army.
My Mom was in the Navy for four years, quite a while ago now.
And, my Grandad was a Marine.

My DH served in Vietnam as a boat captain. Then he served on the USS Saratoga until he left the Navy. Happy Veterans' Day to all that served. We WILL remember!!!

My dad was in the Marines during the early eighties or so. He has lots of funny stories

....

And I think my Grandad fought during WWII, but I could very well be wrong (RIP).
