We call it Remembrance Day too. On the Sunday following the 11th Nov. there is a parade in London and the Queen and members of the royal family lay wreaths at the memorial. There is a nationwide collection and everyone wears a red poppy to commemorate those who have fallen. This is because the battle fields of Flanders were covered with poppies in WW1. The millions of pounds collected is used to help ex service men and women. There is a new fund now called 'Help for Heroes' and the money is used to equip and adapt living accommodation for those returning from Afghanistan with severe injuries. These charities are very well respected and supported. My father's family have served under the colours for two hundred years. My grandfather served in both world wars, and my father was at El Alamein, Tobruk and in Burma. Best wishes to all ex service men and women and their families, their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
