calling any one from missouri

Hello fellow chicken keeper people!! I am looking at moving to the Belton/Raymore MO area, and am wondering if others there are keeping any back yard chickens. I have a small flock, 10 hens and a rooster, but am not finding anything promising so far on statutes.
I am from KCMO, but currently living in SC.

Hi, welcome to the MO thread! I don't know about statutes in that area. But if you find a rural property outside the city limits, that would probably be your best bet. Maybe someone from up that way will chime in......

Google city state code enforcement chickens.

Usually you get results like this:

Yeah. That's what I found. A 3 acre minimum. I possibly may be living either on the south edge of Raymore( Bristol Dr.). or hopefully find someplace with the 3 acre requirement.

Hello! I am hoping for lots of "chime ins". My funds will be sorely limited to buying a used mobile home maybe renting on a property outside of the Raymore city limits.
If I have to, I will rehome them here. In SC. But I have already pared my flock from 32 down to 11.
So...I am looking around and trying to touch base with any locals who have chickens.

I've never been able to photograph a skink before...this one was trapped, temporarily, so I snapped a pic before releasing it:

MDC website says it's a 5-lined skink.

A couple mornings ago, I noticed a few disruptions around coop indicating something had been snooping for a way to get in. I went out that night after dark and saw a big raccoon and 2 small ones lurking nearby. So I set my trap. It caught something alright, which tore up the trap and escaped. I had lined it with license plates to prevent reaching in to get the bait, and they were all bent up and torn off. I had fastened a 2X3 piece of wood just inside the trap's door to prevent varmints from trying to squeeze under. It had completely shredded the wood and squeezed out. This was a cheap trap and there was a bit of wiggle room around the door and now there's even more. Today I found I have a smaller Hav-a-hart trap in the basement, much better quality. The door holds tight w zero wiggle, but we fastened wood across the bottom of the opening anyway. Then I asked DH to put a line of screws poking up thru it. I'm going to fasten it to the coop wall so it cannot be tipped, and bait it w sardines tonight.

The Hav-a-heart traps with a gravity lock must be tied to some immovable object with a chain, if they flip the trap on the side they are out in a flash.

I never thought of using license plates... I put hardware cloth over the bait end and fasten it with cage clamps. I also make a cover over the top of the bait end to keep rain out of the bait.

@SueT did you get a pellet rifle yet?

I went out and tipped it over, it stayed locked. I put eye screws into the wall to hold it fast anyway.
We have a LOT of license plates. Father-in-law saved them for decades. I've only used the modern ones for the traps. I'm saving the vintage ones for crafts.
We did not get a pellet rifle yet. We did look at what they have locally and online and are still considering. This trap is smaller, if it can catch and hold the big raccoon I was just going to drop the trap into a big tote of water and drown it. It kind of takes the heart out of hav-a-heart, but anyway if this works I won't need to spend $$$.
I'll let you all know mañana.....:fl
