calling any one from missouri

This trap is smaller, if it can catch and hold the big raccoon I was just going to drop the trap into a big tote of water and drown it.

Actually drowning the predator is fast and quick and very humane. No missed shots and wounded varmints. I use that method for wood rats I catch.

You gotta do what you gotta do to protect your flock!

I went out and tipped it over, it stayed locked. I put eye screws into the wall to hold it fast anyway.
We have a LOT of license plates. Father-in-law saved them for decades. I've only used the modern ones for the traps. I'm saving the vintage ones for crafts.
We did not get a pellet rifle yet. We did look at what they have locally and online and are still considering. This trap is smaller, if it can catch and hold the big raccoon I was just going to drop the trap into a big tote of water and drown it. It kind of takes the heart out of hav-a-heart, but anyway if this works I won't need to spend $$$.
I'll let you all know mañana.....:fl

Hope you catch it!

Just a little tip, that might or might not be of interest... I keep “tattletale shells” on flowerbeds, etc... and when they’ve been moved I know I probably have a raccoon around... this one was laying in the grass two mornings ago :hmm

Also another dispatching option is a large plastic lawn bag around the critter in the trap, and then a hose and exhaust from the car...

And just in case someone else sees this in the future let me include the obligatory reminder to check local laws, to be safe, and to be discreet.

Well, I didn't catch anything, trap untouched, bait untouched. This trap was set in the run. (The trap that was torn up had been outside of the run.) There were no signs of anything disturbing the items in the run either. Our run is only covered w bird netting. I had fixed a couple torn areas around trees. Maybe it was a little possum getting in and he was daunted by netting.
Okay on to the morning. I found a larger frog in the same spot. I think it is also a gray tree frog even tho it is green. Here is a link w info and the sounds they make: https://nhpbs.org/wild/copesgraytreefrog.asp

Sue, I'm not so sure about those screws. I think they might deter something from going in there. Also if your other trap is bigger you may want to try and fix it up and use it. Or just set both. .
So far in my experience the larger the live trap the better. I think they feel safer wandering on inside the larger ones.
