calling any one from missouri

Here is a page w common north american cicada species' calls. There are so many varied calls. I know we have the one called the 'scissors grinder' ---n. pruinosis pruinosis, and the one above it, ---n.lyricen lyricen, the 'lyric cicada.' But there are a several others that sound familiar, and some definitely NOT. Like the last one, GIGAS, we definitely don't have those.

I just saw a hummingbird moth on the surprise lilies! I ran to get my net to catch it but it was gone. The lilies are about gone too, so I am not optimistic it will return there.

I gave my broody hen that has been broody since the middle of July ( but didn't hatch any eggs) 2 chicks Friday night. Saturday morning they were both out in the coop, so I grabbed them up thinking I would have to set up a brooder for them. When they started chirping, the broody jumped out of her nest box, ran over, pecked me hard on the foot and then ran out of the coop when I waved at her. So I thought well, maybe she will take them after all. So I put them back in the nest box. She came in and got back in and covered them. This morning, there was only 1 chick and it was out of the nest box again and huddled behind a bottom nestbox. So this time I did set up a brooder for it.
The brooder did try to go to it but it kept running off. She also tried to call it to food but it wouldn't listen. :idunno It appeared to only be a day or 2 old when I bought it. Usually after a day or 2 they learn to listen to Momma, but I don't think that is going to happen this time. Not sure where the other chick got to. It could be dead and hidden in the pine shavings in the coop or it may have gotten out of the coop yesterday and either got eaten or wandered away into the woods.
I'm going to get the lone chick a friend or 2 today because I think they do better in pairs or more.
Now , I have to try to break that hen from being broody. :barnie
I have 1 other broody hen in that coop. We will see what happens with her eggs in a little over 2 weeks.
