Here is a page w common north american cicada species' calls. There are so many varied calls. I know we have the one called the 'scissors grinder' ---n. pruinosis pruinosis, and the one above it, ---n.lyricen lyricen, the 'lyric cicada.' But there are a several others that sound familiar, and some definitely NOT. Like the last one, GIGAS, we definitely don't have those.

I just saw a hummingbird moth on the surprise lilies! I ran to get my net to catch it but it was gone. The lilies are about gone too, so I am not optimistic it will return there.

It appeared to only be a day or 2 old when I bought it. Usually after a day or 2 they learn to listen to Momma, but I don't think that is going to happen this time. Not sure where the other chick got to. It could be dead and hidden in the pine shavings in the coop or it may have gotten out of the coop yesterday and either got eaten or wandered away into the woods.
