hmmm... not sure what I did wrong earlier but I meant to include these “dented” pictures in that post also...

The county mower knuckle head did this a couple years ago ...

I was able to whack it back into shape and it’s held up fine

Wow they really did a number on it! I lived in a house out in the country that had a big oversized mailbox like that and it was full of dents.

The bigger the mailbox, the bigger target it is, lol

I caught the county mower guy up the road and gave him an ear full for just driving off and leaving it like that

a few months later our neighbor to the back of us saw me down by the road and decided to back up and pull in to say hi... as he did he caught the mailbox with the corner of the truck and knocked it right off the post

he stopped by the other day to look at some old historic maps I have of the area... and the first thing he said was ‘don’t worry, I didn’t hit your mail box!”

It has been a great respite from normal August weather. We're supposed to drop to 63 before sunrise. A low 61% RH. A glorious high of 79 today.
Best of all, a full week without rain.
Back into the mid 90s next week though.

We woke up to a gray fox “barking” outside the bedroom window around 4 am.... I saw a possum hurry across the yard just after... so I’m guessing that’s who the fox was scolding...

But I’ve just been enjoying the perfect morning since then!

wow, I always called them yellow jackets, but read they are really wasps. It says they eat garden pests like cabbage worms, so they are very beneficial.

My daughter, I, and the dogs went to Fancy Flamingo Flea Mall in Joplin. Every 3rd booth had chicken knick-knacks....

looks like a hornets nest to me? Unless I’m mistaken

I saw one in a black berry thicket about the size of a softball a month ago... I need to go back and look at it again...

The old ozarkers believed it was good luck to have a hornets nest hanging in the rafters of the house/cabin
