calling any one from missouri

I snuck away to the neighboring state today to do some float fly fishing...

caught a bunch of trout on the Norfolk river in Arkansas... landed ( and released) an exceptionally nice rainbow trout... and hooked a giant something??? But didn’t land it....

caught three species of trout ... and had a lot of fun getting sun burned in this part of the Ozarks today 🥴

I love fishing down there. I just haven't been able to get that far down in a long time. I call it life BC. Not before Christ but rather before chickens.
I've caught Browns and Rainbow and I just looked it up. I see they've introduced Brook and Cutthroat. Which was the third you caught?

I caught one cutthroat and one brook trout... my buddy caught a couple browns, but I didn’t catch a brown yesterday

Going to be a nice day here in Swamp East Missouri today. I hope I don't have to spend much time getting the slide cylinder functioning on the 1880's spoke lathe today. I need to take some photos of the machine today.

This is the spoke lathe I'm automating but before adding my magic stuff.

Here I'm sorting out how to mount the slide cylinder.

Yesterday I suddenly arrived at the point where I cannot bear to eat another piece of okra this year.... :sick Suddenly it makes me gag to even think about it!
Not so thrilled with summer squashes either. We tore out some zucchini plants and planted broccoli for the fall this morning.

Well...I haven't seen any horn worms. And my plants have grown and have several green maters...
But they aren't getting very big. They were supposed to be "big boy" maters. So far they have been small and split. 💁 Do I need to pet fertilizer on them or what?
Zucchini plants are putting on just fine.

I'd say pet them...

A lot of tomatoes around here are splitting as well, dunno why. It's like all of a sudden they all split in the raised beds but not the deck planters. I fertilize sometimes when I think about it.

My deck planter tomatoes got way too tall again this year and some fell over, the plants in the raised beds are climbing the trellis for the cucumbers I never planted.

I canned some tomato sauce today. We have a LOT of tomatoes, a lot more cherry than large. We've been dehydrating the cherry tomatoes in the dehydrator that DD brought w her. Which is good because it seems almost impossible to find canning lids. Even jars w lids are sold out.
