Wondering what to do with all those extra ticks this summer?

You can mail a few to this university so they can study tick diseases... the rest you can mail as gifts to friends and family šŸ™ƒ

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and A.T. Still University in Kirksville are asking people to save ticks they encounter and mail them to the University. The ticks will be used for a new scientific research study to help better understand the statewide distribution of tick species and the human pathogens they carry.

We looked at the form and canā€™t figure out if they want them alive or dead......

Hmmm... I had to look around, but on the page of the first link I posted there is a FAQ toward the bottom, and I found this:

Oh, okay. I wonder what the USPS thinks about this.
I wish you could get results so you would know what diseases you potentially are being exposed to. Our neighbor got Ehlichiosis one year...
I spelled it wrong. Ehrlichiosis. They gave him an antibiotic that is good for other tick borne disease and he wasnā€™t responding, so they tested. Ehrlichiosis needs a different antibiotic. This was 10 years ago, and neither that family or ours has had any tick borne illness since.

Oh yea I saw another midland brown snake still functioning so pointed out a slug to it...

Well, it turns out my son and his family won't be moving to Poplar Bluff after all. He had been staying down at the house we were working on for the past 3 weeks or so and met up with way too many drug users/dealers to make his staying down there doable. He is a recovered addict and struggling to stay in recovery while at that house.
He had his wife pick him and all his stuff back up today. So, now the game plan is to finish rehabbing the house and then putting it back on the market and hopefully getting back ( at least) what we put into it.
Then he and his wife can look for a home somewhere else. I think he may have to continue to live somewhere very rural and distant from other people to stay clean and sober.

Did you see the drug related kidnapping in Poplar Bluff
Investigators later executed a search warrant at a home in the 900-block of Park Street where they Stewart said they found ā€œa quantity of suspected illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.ā€
Is that the same street the house is on?

I have two butt pickers now living in private accommodations. Went to Petco for a knock down cage and the price was $80! Orschlens was completely out of Home on the go cages. Went to PetSmart and they had a medium one for $38

The one on the left is the new cage with feeder Mk2. I'm going to modify the old one to match. The feeder clips on the cage with some metal clips I made. Miss Behaving is in the right cage and is not missing any butt fuzz, Blondie is in the left cage and is missing most of her butt fuzz. There is only one other bird that is not missing any butt fuzz, not sure how she avoided these two.
