calling any one from missouri

Is the wire bottom important? I moved her to the Chicken Clink and she has not tried to sit on anything so far. No eggs in sight in there unless she lays one.

Well that will probably work then.
The BYC pundits all swear by the wire bottom cage so the hen can cool off her underside. So that’s what I’ve been doing. But an insistent broody can sit on nothing at all and still remain broody. You just have to play it by ear.....

After moving the CQ's back and forth from their run to the supervised grass land they are getting easier and easier to move. Today they just took turns walking up to me and let me pick them up and carry them from the grass land to the run though the RIR's yard.

Victoria laid an egg in one of the cages today but didn't try and sit on it...

Seems that just moving Victoria out of the area with the nest boxes for 2 days and she has no interest in being broody anymore.

On a sad note one of my 4 year old hens Monique has been doing poorly and yesterday the other hens were pecking her head and she was flat on the ground. I grabbed her up and put her in a cage in the Chicken Clink. Now no one can pick on her and she gets room service a few times a day. I've been feeding her toasted bread crumbs, dried meal worms and scrambled egg. She has been eating ok but seems weak in the legs and has the runs.

Molly the 1 year old CQ has this habit of chowing down on my skin when I pick her up and I really mean grabbing and biting hard and not letting go. She is in the Chicken Clink to keep Monique company. I've been hand feeding Molly any treats she gets for a few days now... we'll see how that works.

Hmm Ducknapping...
