calling any one from missouri

It is beautiful today, just got back from having lunch at the park! This afternoon my agenda consists of building a guinea pen and start the painting of the new chicken coop. Yesterday, we moved the duck pen and built a pen for the small birds. We are busily building on and loving the nice weather!

Im worn out today. The kids are on spring break and im out of work for the time being so yesterday we decided to take the kids to Hawn State Park near Ste. Genevieve for a hike. It was a beautiful day and wow what a beautiful park.

Okay take off the swim suits and put on the winter coats.

Just your friendly BYC Missouri weather forecaster checking in.

I hate these swings in temps. I was outside yesterday in shorts while putting wire on the new pens. And now it is freezing.

Guess I need to hang around a few days and wait for the change again.

Was talking to a friend of mine in Oklahoma who was planting garden yesterday and I told her I needed to wait a little. I remember 1 1/2 feet of snow on Easter when I was a little girl.

Check out this pic.......

We used those bright plastic playskool rings for eyes and twigs as you did for whiskers. The local Newspaper came by and took our picture while all 3 of us sat on the rabbit.. That is sooo Great.... Small world and great to know others build the same great memories as we did

Okay I wanted to tell anyone from the central missouri region that Chris at Orscheln's in California, Missouri is hosting a small animal swap in his parking lot on this Saturday. I think it starts at 8 a.m. You can contact him for more information. Would love to see a good turn so that he might do this monthly.

Just wanted to let everyone know.

Sheila

First Saturday of the month there is a swap in Joplin, Mo

Second Saturday there is a swap in Granby.

Every Thursday there is an auction in Lockwood.

Darn, doubt I can make it this time, but next time I'll plan on it!

I have 14 or so polish eggs due to hatch on Good Friday, it will be my second attempt at incubating and hatching eggs. All 14 are fertile and have good veins, wish me luck! I sold the WCB polish rooster after he got territorial with my 3 year old son, to a fellow who also bought my first hatched chicks and one of my three polish hens. Now I'm down to 5 full grown hens, but I have 11 more assorted chicks in brooder boxes, plus the eggs in the incubator! I won't be able to keep them all, so later this year I'll be selling the ones that aren't my absolute favorites. Now I'm building a new chicken tractor for the banties since I doubt I'd let them free range and get eaten by the neighborhood cats who are huge and aren't limited by chain-link. Plus we have a few hawks in the area who, thankfully, have left my heavy girls alone with as many rabbits as there are to eat.

They have tried to do swaps at our Orschelns(Brookfield) but evidently the word did not get out and no one showed up. If you want Cason, I could ask them again and see if they can try it this year but you gotta help me get the word out!

Just a question for thought.............

What kind of feed do you use for your chickens?

What feed is the best price for the quality???

I am thinking if switching feeds. Right now our local mill is grinding our feed and it seems that the powder nutrients and vitamins are ending up on the floor of the coop and they are just eating the corn and oats.

Just wanted evryone's input.
