calling any one from missouri

Man, sure some sucky hatching disasters going on. Not sure if I've got any hatched from my legbars and marans under the duck either. She won't budge and I'm afraid to look. She's kicked out some rotten/dead duck eggs from the nest I had to transfer, but not those so far. But not seen any chicks either. Trying to get delivery of this darn hatcher so can get it set up! Then I can push her off, take them, see what if anything is going on and if anything looks viable finish them off in the hatcher.

Well hatching here is going crazy! OK so get this I paid for 6 Tolbunt eggs. They shipped 8, 6 made it to lock down. I had 2 pips this morning, then about an hour ago a 3rd pipped zipped and died in about 25 mins. It was a tolbunt. The 2 who pipped finally hatched, and they are NOT tolbunts! They are Polish, best I can tell they are Gold Laced Polish. Now 2 more have pipped. I have no idea what I am hatching!

Ohhh man, that soooooooo sucks!

Are the other 3 doing anything at all?

Hatcher finially picked up at the PO. Was supposed to have been here Monday!
Got it set up and calibrating. Instructions are written in English as a 4th language.
Got a independant hydr/temp in there to double check. Day 21 on legbars and marans was Sunday - think we were supposed to hatch together Jacki. Mama duck is gonna get pushed off the nest like it or not tomorow to see what's what.

Meanwhile had another batch of scovies hatch.

Next week have the choc projects, a few marans and bourbon reds hatching - think I'm going to candle and put those in the hatcher. I'm sure more scovies too - going off like popcorn around here!

Pipped and hatched but not totally out of the shell, bottom half is stuck. It fell out of the egg carton onto a wash rag I was using to up the humidity. Thought I saw a little bleeding on the back...........uggggggggggggggh

Any new progress???

This month has been horrid about hatches!! I am struggling big time with mine. Thinking after these eggs I have now to hatch I will just use my current flock to try and perfect the hatching method here. Of course during that time I plan on building a cabinet bator. Hoping my 2 silkie broodies have good hatches!!

Yes #1 is out and doing fine. Taking forever to dry #3 is half out. Looks like it might still have yolk to absorb. The bottom half of the shell is still attached! I am going to sty up and keep an eye on it. Hopefully pics in the morning

Just wait Eden some day.... we will have to special request English instructions or they won't be sent. I have had a few things that only reason we got together and working is because the diagram saved us.

I haven't kept close track of everyones eggs (Where/who from.), JNJ was the person a reputable seller? Or someplace like Ebay? Just wondering. I received some Ebay eggs and set them but few actually LOOKED like eggs I swear. Dirty and some in repair mode. As in must have been cracked and tried to seal the cracks with something. A few others had peck holes. Hope they come out the breed they spose to be and not mongrels, I have enough of those for now.
Wonder if the person figured someone wouldn't realize what a talbount is spose to look like. Or they don't know, or have cross breeds. That sucks that someone would do that, intentional or not. I would seriously contact the seller.

Thought one of my incy went out, but was a exstention cord shorting out. Bought replacement after I got eggs from 2 incy into the 1 that as holding good temp.

Last day of school was today so its gonna be loud around here. I might have to sleep with the guineas for quiet time. Hope the rest of your eggs hatch ok and ARE TB's not polish or other. My time seems to be dragging on forever. Great news is thta we haven't lost a bird in quite awhile and I still have a bunch of birds under 3 mo. some just born Mothersday all doing ok for the most part.

Think thats going on for alot of people lately not just you. Hoping I get 50% with my shipped eggs but would be content with a couple males from 1 breed and a 1/2 dozen from other. Just Barred Rocks and Leghorns but I have a rhyme and reason for them. I plan on replacing most of my adult birds when the little ones mature. Most of my birds are at least 3 years old but still very productive weather permitting. If I don't get a few of each I will be upset and have ALOT of line breeding to do to get end results I am looking for. Keep our fingers crossed and pray to the poultry fairy.

I feel safer (And less pricey too) using my own eggs also.

The breeder was reputable. But I have also read that a lot of breeders us Gold Lace Polish to breed in with the Tolbunts to get a larger gene pool. There are few good breeders in the US. They havent been here very long. So either he grabbed these eggs accidently or genetics have come back and bit me in the butt.....lol
