calling any one from missouri

We only have 16 acres but I am a poor shot and have always been told I am clumpsy so I am a little afraid of getting a gun. Around here though I think I might have to just bite the bullet and get one. We had people hunting on our property last year and with six kids three of which are autistic it would be nice to at least know that someone is on our property using a gun. All we ask is that people share what they kill or pay us and to let us know so we can get the kids inside. I'm to the point that I am going to make it known there is a gun in the house and that it will be used for any unwelcome tresspassers.

What you can do - call the sherrifs office and file a complaint. Have the "seasonals" given a heads up that the coincidence has been noted and that neighbors are armed and prepared to defend thier property. Unless you just want to catch them and put rock salt in thier butts. Game cams are a good idea too.
But in any case, get a good PO'd on and put a bug in the sherrifs ear to get them talked to in clear language.

Had problems out here until the wild crazy woman started patroling with a shotgun up in the windshield. Shotguns don't require good aim - just point in the general direction. Rocksalt won't kill but it will put some serious hurt on 'em. With kids around you may prefer to go that route.

Well the sheriff is no good out here we live just out of town and our town has no police so it depends on how many donuts they have to eat of weather they will come out or not. I will try that though I don't think they will do anything. Our town has no police. Rock salt might be a good idea. I do have my mother shot gun.

Like I said, get on a good head of PO'd, insist on filing a report out - which means they have to show up. Give them the low down, including intention of arming yourself and protecting your property. If they believe you they WILL "have a word" with the "suspects". What they don't want is escalation to bodies when they did not put forth effort. Believe me - I know about worthless county law enforcement. After having 5 pieces of heavy equipment shot up and my dogs massacred twice - I told the sherrif I was patrolling armed and that ANYONE I caught on my property carrying firearms would be CARRIED off feet first. Then they did convey that msg to my "suspect" neighbors and lo and behold - my problems ceased. Funny how that works......

Wow! And I thought we had lousy neighbors! They are nothing like that though. We have a game camera up for still shots and also a few security cameras that are motion activated to help keep watch on things. By george we don't have much but what we have is ours and we'd like to keep it!

My chicks are really growing!! We've been on this adventure for almost a month now and am loving every day of it. Plans are in the works for the coop, we have the run built, and they stay in a little temporary shelter at night for now. I hope they don't get too chilly tonight, it's supposed to get in the upper 50's I believe. They are all getting to be very friendly, except for the polish crested. They are both a little on the haughty side lol!! I told my kids that they think they are king and queen with those crowns on their heads lol!! Still thinking I have 2 roosters (the polish and then one that I am 99.5% sure is due to his coloring) and the rest hens. I'm hoping anyway. Time will tell I guess.

Well went up to the barn last night and for some reason the bag of feed was dumped all over the barn floor. I just don't understand the childish things they do. If they want the eggs I don't like it but then just take the eggs but to dump a half a bag of feed all over the place is just childish and only harms the egg production. Thankfully we had bought a bag of feed the other day and just had not gotten in out of the truck yet so we were able to feed them last night. We will be going to the police this after noon and filing a report as well as taking an ad out in the local newspaper for a notice of no hunting and no tresspassing on our property so that it is not only posted on the property but also in public notifications. I know this will not stop them but at least when we shot them we can say we gave all warning necessary before taking that action. This week is going to be beefing up security. I just don't understand some people anymore. I just hope that they don't start breeding rabbits again because it is just too hot to breed them and it is just so much more work when they are bred in July and August. Barn door is locked so hopefully that will keep them out for now.
