here is our first hatchling with mommy cat penny watching over her she is mom to all of our chickens

I have some due the 28th I believe. Just BYM and then some Rouens 1 week later.

All kinds of ideas lately backfired. Turkey breeder counted eggs, not what would hatch. There goes those. No word on some retiring layers, got a guy on CL had some year olds for $5 was gonna get around a dozen to add to egg production. 1/2 way there he called and tells me his wife told a guy at work, and he came bought everything he had. So we had a nice early easter. with 3 youngest. Stopped saw some chicks at TSC and a farm and home store. Each picked a cockerel and I got a few for future roos to replace my Cross bred roosters. We have at least 2 each breed that I have pure hens for. BO BA RIR and BPR. I got a few pullets that were dropped in the Fry Pan mix by kids that were holding them before we got there. I won't go into detail how I know but I have always been on target with RIR pullet selection. Just hope I remembered to grab a ROO!

When they get close to maturity my current roosters will be upgraded to freezer camp. All really nice sized except my 1 pure BA. Largest is a BA x LH.

Overall not a terrible weekend. BTW Happy Easter All!!!

Just wanted to introduce myself and say "hi." I have been a lurker for awhile now. BYC is addicting even if you don't have chickens yet. Finally bought a nice piece of land and hatching eggs should arrive next week. Wish me luck!

Anyone know of any bird selling events around the Sedalia area up to an hour away like warrensburg, columbia, jeff city area, or lake ozarks area coming up? I saw Jacobs cave, what's the details on that?

Central MO (JeffCity/Columbia) Swaps, I'm not aware of. The only thing I have heard of is auctions: Vienna and Miller County Auctions.

Jacob's Cave is a big swap meet. It's held 3 times a year: April, June and Aug. I've been once, haven't had a need to go again (too tempting to bring more than I wanted)
