calling any one from missouri

Hello to all in Missouri and hey 5 acre rooster you are not the only one in Northern Missouri!
I'm new here so I don't know where you are in northern Mo. but I live in a small
town in Shelby county between Macon and Hannibal.

We are moving to our small homestead a mile from our house in a couple weeks. I will be raising
guineas I know of for sure they have been ordered from cackle hatchery.
I wanted white crested black polish chickens but they can't ship only 5.
I tried looking at Rutledge swap market last weekend but nobody had chicks at all when I was there =(.

Still looking for eggs or chicks of white crested black polish chickens if anyone from Columbia Mo to
Quincy IL have any for sale.

The Jacob's market sounds interesting wish I hadn't missed it.

I live NW of Kirksville. Unionville Mo which Is only like 12 miles from IA line. I raised Guineas for last 3 years. Winter got them this year though, terrible weather and didn't go inside (I free range almost 100% make sure they have access to housing but try not penning birds most of the time. If you let the hens brood and raise keets you might lose a lot. They set great, but make terrible mothers. Unless confined birds would do better than mine did. If keets can't keep up the mother generally just leaves them behind.

I try sticking to DP breeds mainly for chickens. And end up with a lot of BYM. Going to try breed a BA line for sustainability. Always have great luck with them. Was that or RIR and I have breeders for BA. Have a trial on some meat birds I am going to try too. Just for giggles. That and I have always had issues with incubating, like never getting tired of it.

I am a classroom teacher in the St. Louis area who hatches with her class every year.  My kids often think all eggs are white and all chicks are yellow so I try to get a variety of different eggs to teach them about diversity.  The person I have bought eggs from the last 3 years is no longer on this board so here is what I am looking for:

Eggs in a variety of colors and sizes (love the bantams!)

I have a small budget but am always willing to pitch in my own money for this project.  The chicks go to farms and I have a list of people waiting for my birds again this year.  Thanks for looking and I appreciate any help you can give me!

I just bought my eggs off a lady in Troy, MO. I saw her ad on Craigslist. I live in West County and I met her around Moscow Mills. She has 30 or so breeds, including olive eggers. She gave me a discount because I'm also hatching for my daughter's preschool project. Her name is Pam at Promised Poultry Plus. 636-290-2934.

Shelbina small? or smaller like Honeywell and/or Lentner?
If you can't tell, I grew up in Shelby county but hubby's job brought us to Jefferson City.

I had White Crested Black Polish as a kid. Don't have them now of course.
Good Luck with your move.

Wow that's awesome!

Shelbina small. My husband moved me here after we got married =)
Great little town but glad we are able to move just a mile out to some
land to grow on.
Nice to meet you!

I still have relatives in Shelbina. In fact now that I think about it, the ones that were scattered across the whole county, are now concentrated in Shelbina or have left the county totally. I grew up in Northern Shelby county.
