Actually, believe it or not, Smithville is probably closer to us than Cedar Hill. Smithville is about 156 on RT 36 and Cedar Hill is about 196 miles if we were to go via Columbia. Macon. Cedar Hill is closer to La Plata in size though I do believe.

We fled IL about 5 years ago and have never regretted it one bit. We LOVE Missouri.

Ahh, well, It's not the first or last time I've been wrong!

From Republic, MO just started this chicken thing about 5 weeks ago. I can't wait till they start to lay eggs!

Are those of you near Joplin aware of the Turkey Creek Poultry Swap? First Saturday every month, so it will be July 2, from 7-12. I went to the one in June and was impressed by the variety of poultry, and the big turnout. Here's a poster they put on Facebook in March, with more details of how it works...same each month.
