Well my 2 broodies are still at it.... but this biddy was out there yesterday evening when I went to do chores... so I guess my rooster wasn’t a complete dud after all...

It hatched at just 17 days? ... and so far no others... I’m not sure what to think about that ...

I brought it inside to give the broody more time on the other eggs... hoping it won’t be the only one to hatch.

Also here is a soggy iris picture.... only 1/2” of rain yesterday ... so not as soggy as the others....

Congratulations on the 1 chick ( hopefully, first of many chicks) to hatch!! I know 2 of the eggs I got from you had fully formed chicks, they just unfortunately did not hatch. Maybe the rooster had finally figured out what he was doing?
Anyway, I hope you get at least a couple more to hatch!!

Congratulations on the 1 chick ( hopefully, first of many chicks) to hatch!! I know 2 of the eggs I got from you had fully formed chicks, they just unfortunately did not hatch. Maybe the rooster had finally figured out what he was doing?
Anyway, I hope you get at least a couple more to hatch!!

Oh that’s right... I forgot you had two of those that were not just clears.... I candled some of the eggs and have several clears ... I think.... but several of these eggs are from my Ameraucana who finally started to lay again... and the blue eggs don’t candle well so I can’t tell.

I’m still confused about the how one hatched so early, but it seems to be healthy and doing well.... today is day 19 so maybe it’ll get some siblings soon

The forecast says no rain today! So maybe some of the mud will dry up!

Also I saw gooseberries yesterday.... probably just a bit early to pick them but will be time soon... gooseberry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is one on my favorites!

Finally a little sunshine so the irises can un-sog for a bit!...

Btw... did your orioles ever show up? I’ve had a few, but I think all the rain has messed with them..... there are however more this morning....

...the hummingbirds are in full force now though... there were close to 20 last night at dusk....

... that’s typically more in line with how many we have towards the end of summer when the young’ins are grown... hope that doesn’t mean we’re gonna have 50 in August, or feeding them is going to be a full time endeavor

They look pretty close to blooming! .... you’ll have to post a pic when they do.... I don’t think we have any pink ones...

I ran across these pink wildflowers yesterday... apparently called “Dame’s Rocket” ... they’re about 3’ to 4’ tall

I haven't seen or heard an Oriole yet. But I haven't put anything out for them either with all of this rain.. Normally they show up and demand to be fed at their regular feeding station.

You have goose berries! I am jealous!
