calling any one from missouri

Just kinda have to observe where they are hanging. I do generally see the male in attendence keeping an eye on her or just not giving up opportune "alone" time. They are gonna lay a BUNCH of eggs before they set so you'll have time to keep your peepers peeled.

If you are going to get seriously sucked into chicken math might want to think about looking into a LGD.
I've got a pair of pyrenese, usually let my free ranging eggers range at will, the turkeys, guineas, geese ditto and only lost a couple birds in the begining while the dogs got the hang of it. They're even smart enough to look UP for owls & hawks.

Oh I would LOVE to have a pyrenese, But I have neighbors that HATE dogs. My driveway is 3/10 of a mile long yet my 2 chihuahuas always want to walk up the driveway and harass their 2 dogs who are tied up. They threatened to make them "disappear" so I had to put them on an underground fence system.
There has been 2 times now I have seen the hens coming back together, and they are always coming down my driveway. So when they start setting, will they get off to eat? Will the males guard the nest or stay close?

That underground fence works for big dogs too....

Might want to remind your neighbor that while they certainly have the right to protect themselves or thier livestock from menace... unless there is a city ordinance dogs have every legal right to roam. Further, that to otherwise kill a dog is a criminal offense. Turn his butt in for threats. Granted, dogs can be a pests gettingin trash - but so can any number of wildlife critters - up to him to protect it in bins or what ever. Be pretty hard to make a case he was menaced by those lil half pints you got.

Yeah they are both under 6 lbs. Also, the guineas go way out past the underground fence. So the big dog wont be able to protect them.

Law of natural selection then.
Those that stay close to the house will live to create more that stay close to the house......
Sounds like WINNING to me!

Well I candled my Polish frizzles, today is day 16 and 2 more quitters. So now I am down to 3. If I keep going like this I will NEED the sizzles!
I got the nerve to do an eggtopsy. All the veins were gone, just chick and yolk left.

You might want to do a bator breed search or even ask the egg provider about optimum temp and humidity schedules for thier birds if you didn't.
A specialty bator forum might get you better answers ID'ing possible issues.

I've let broodies handle everything for me so far - glad to avoid all the questioning and self torture that incubators seem to feed. Eggs in, chicks out. Tis what it tis.

So sorry things don't seem to be going well. Still hope on 3 tho. Maybe a simple correction can be made. Best of luck!

I have hatched Polish before, not frizzle. But cant see there would be much of a difference. I think it has more to do with shipped eggs. I need to talk someone into going broody. But my hens arent even 1 yet!

Isn't there a lethal gene with frizzle? Thought I just read something on that.
Between that and shipping - low hatch rates expected.

Lotta info out here to comb thru and believe I remember that in passing researching something else on here.
Of course I was born blonde and am developing CRS in my old age...............

I am so nervous about these eggs I've got in the bator!! Serious money here...! Man if I don't get at least 50% hatch i will be hard pressed to buy eggs via mail again! (Is that a little exteme?? And a lie????). Lol!

My gunieas laying in the besting boxes just fine but I also only hace hens. My Roos do get frisky with them though! Thought about hatching some but not sure i really want a guniea/chicken cross... Anyone else done that? I've heard someone was intentionally doing it but never heard anything on the results.
