calling any one from missouri

They are hatchery...

And I don't want to offend anyone... There were some gorgeous birds there, but there were a lot of ratty lookin' birds on display... filthy birds, bald patches, tattered feathers... really...

A nice looking Brown Leghorn took Reserve Champion in the Mediterranean Class... but my hatchery brown leghorn is a much better looking bird than most of the 5 examples of brown leghorns I saw at the fair... She's just a little smaller.and younger. I have a little more respect for her now, previously feeling she looked a little plain compared to my SLWs and EEs.

I of course have no idea what is being looked at for judging though... And I have no idea how entering in the shows work or what the benefits are of winning, other than a ribbon.

My husband fell in love with one of the two Blue Andalusians there, saying we will have one in our future flocks...lol @ my husband... So he took a photo of her and her tag. I don't know if he wants to contact the owner about the possibility of chicks at some point or even if that is appropriate...

That's awesome about your husband. Mine is working on getting as excited as I am.
Nothing wrong with hatchery birds. You have to start somewhere and decide where you want to go!

yeah, calling for rain every day from now to next Wed.

Might have to look for the key to the canoe!
you know where im at and your right k.c hasn't got much but I've had 22 inches in the last 8 days and moving in that sucks im just saying lol but we needed some rain but 3 inches in 20 minutes is ridiculous call me when you have time to chat please and thank you sweetheart

But I have Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons now!!! A trio and 2 juvies... Will start aellin eggs in a few weeks or so. Is there anyone in MO that would be interested??

I'd be interested in a couple of chicks. Will you have any around 6-8 September? I live in SEMO, but will be going to Rolla that weekend.

Also, Roxanne, if you're wanting some eggs and they're available I can pick them up while I'm there. I'll be leaving that area and heading through your neck of the woods. And I still want the Lav Orps we've been chatting about, I think they'll go good together.

If anyone has a line on some jubilee orpingtons I'm really looking for some. The closest I've seen them is Clinton, but that's a LONG haul from anywhere I ever go.

I can't bring him with me or he'll KNOW what I buy! LOL! Actually... when it comes to the chickens, I've got it easy. He loves the benefits of having them around (especially bug control) and he couldn't care less how many I collect. Not so with my other animals. He'd be happy if we didn't have a single horse, cat, dog, llama, etc. He doesn't seem to mind the goats too bad.

I am excited though. Maybe I'll meet some of you there?

Edit to add; Why didn't it include my quote?
" No need for him to duck it (pun intended) ... it's not just small animals, everything under the sun there and all mixed together. Besides, you'll need him to carry what you buy....... LOL!"

Sorry to hear about the knee. I'll take whatever on the LO's, whenever they're ready. I've had a plan for 4 birds initially and now I have 17, so it's not like I'm keeping on track anyways lol.
