calling any one from missouri

Standing outside burning some stumps I pulled and the barred owls are having quite a conversation... either that or someone let loose some howler monkeys down off toward the river... lol

I’m any case it’s a nice night to be in the show me state!
I've been hearing owls at night as well. They really do talk up a storm.
Ever heard a barn owl screech?

I don’t think so... I’ve heard owls make lots of crazy noises, but I never IDd any as a barn owl...

...but I’ve heard screech owls do their thing.... not ascreech but more of a trill.... used to have one of those around the yard... but not for a while.

I have heard something similar to that... but just never saw it... could have just been Crazy Edna down the road out for a walk ;)

barn owl we stop to visit sometimes that lives in an old school house near us.

@SueT
Do you put out nectar or jelly at your place?
no, maybe that's why I never see orioles.....
I used to put up a hummingbird feeder, but it kept getting black mold in it and I read that could kill them, so I stopped doing it. We've got lots of wildflowers for them, as long as there's not a long drought...
Any of you put up a martin house? We've never done that either....

Hello to all, I am from the Springfield area. I had chickens for a while and thenI took a break and now I am back:yesss:, I now just have a few but happy to have this many and believe or not I want a Rooster and am hoping to find a Wyandotte to help the ladies because they will be free rangers with the help from my trusty Border Collie which is seasoned and outstanding in gathering her ladies and putting them away when needed. If anyone can help me in my search for a new Rooster I will be very grateful.

There is a monthly poultry swap in Joplin, first saturdays at Turkey Creek Feed, it's well attended. Looks like that is May 4. There will be a LOT of roosters there....
I may bring some brown leghorn hens to sell, not sure if I can go or not.
