calling any one from missouri

@jthornton

When you’re done at your place swing up this way! Those are sharp.

I think it’s too much nitrogen that makes tomato’s grow stalks but no fruit...

Also since SueT passed I’ll offer to trade you a tomato plant for a rat... you’ll be saving his life... because I’m about to put him down and place him on a stump as an offering to Alfred our yard owl...

@OhZark Biddies
I was feeding it miracle grow on a regular basis, I wonder if I was feeding them too much? IIRC I was feeding them every week or sooner when I thought about it. Ok we have an experiment I think...

JT

I recently noticed that some of the miracle grow I have has different numbers on it as far as NPK values ... a friend moved to Oklahoma and gave us a bunch of it... and I never paid attention to it until this spring when I wanted something with a low N value to feed bulbs, which are apparently like tomatoes in that too much N and they produce leafs but not flowers.

Anyway you might check your miracle grow container for the NPK numbers to see.... one of them I have was low nitrogen ( also Menards has a water soluble fertilizer like Miracle grow that had a low N number too)...

In any case an experiment sounds like fun!

Good information to know about the nitrogen.
The Miracle Grow I have has the following:
N 24%
P2O5 8%
K2O 16%

I have some Schultz that has the following:
N 20%
P2O5 30%
K2O 20%

Wow that is some difference. I'll have to bring my loupe with me to read the labels, dang how do they print so small lol.

What do you consider as a low N%?

I think Shultz was what the brand I found at menards for the bulbs...

I did just notice this one for ‘maters on the Menards website that has 18 N, 18 P, 21 K :
