I saw this great big Sphinx moth / Clearwing on the lilies last night he was huge... as big as a hummingbird...

Seems strange to say as big as a hummingbird is huge, lol

I tried to get a good picture, but this was as good as I could manage...

I did a little googling... and learned that this was a ‘Five-spotted hawk moth’

Which as as a caterpillar is known as the beloved ‘tomato horn worm’

Suddenly I’m less impressed with that moth, lol

I know I’ve looked up horn worms in the past, but didn’t remember it being that moth
