Going back to Cuba Monday to make some adjustments on the Poka-Yolk I installed.

Mable acted like she was going to lay an egg today, singing the egg song loud and clear for quite a while and going into the nest box. At least Sweet Pea laid an egg and now I have 3 eggs for breakfast tomorrow.

I took the tomato cutting from the jar that had been in there for a couple of weeks or more and planted it in some potting soil yesterday and it's still looking good so no transfer shock.

I was quite surprised at the root growth just sitting in some water and maybe twice some fertilizer was added.

In the pot... we will see.

Hmm I got back from Cuba yesterday to find a lash egg in the nest box. So it looks like one of my hens is sick with salpingitis.

i had to look up what this is, after seeing your thread about it yesterday. I have never seen this condition. Do you know which hen? Is it contagious to the others? One hopeful statement I read is that it could be a one time occurrence.

I had a hen with that years and years ago. I think she only "laid" the one lash egg. But it was so long ago, I don't actually remember. I also don't remember the outcome. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
