calling any one from missouri

Here’s the solo chick, Juno, now 6 weeks old. Now that she’s weaned, she’s a loner, no one else talks to her, but, on the plus side, no one bullies her either. I say ‘she’ but it remains to be seen if this is a female. I may know in time for this weekend’s poultry swap tho. In Spitzhaubens, the first telltale sign of a cockerel is the wattles begin to show, around 7 weeks.

It’s a chilly foggy sunrise this morning....
This is the kitten that showed up a week ago, starving and full of fleas. I was afraid he was sick because he slept so much. Now he’s full of food, full of energy, no more fleas. He has gained weight and gotten shiny. Daughter named him Oliver, “Ollie.” He loves the dogs and rassles with the terrier.

He’s got his first vet appt today.
He's pretty! Oops, I mean handsome! 😄

I had to build a camp fire today... my Purina Deer Block ended up attracting flies so bad I decided to move the block away from the machine shop door. I put a bucket over it and turned it over and it was full of maggots! I burned the block in the burn barrel with a lot of cardboard and built a fire over the rest on the ground.

I started spraying the deer food with apple juice with a spritzer and Bambi is eating it all now. Just need to see them ribs disappear and one more dewormer Saturday and she should be set for winter.
