Hey all, we made through the night unscathed. But they will not come out. I don't want to put water inside due to spillage. Is moisture rich food enough to keep them hydrated?

I'm a duck person not a chicken person but if it were me I'd go ahead and put a small dish of water close to the door maybe, just enough they could all get a drink real quick but not enough to make a huge mess if/when spilled.

I had to go feed the cayugas. The gosh darned belly button starlings flogged their food yesterday and ate every last crumb of it!

I have a heated water container just outside the door. Shrug. That wind sucks. I imagine they will just hide inside.

And of all the rotton luck... frozen solid of course. They could've had the decency to leave this inside the house where there is 5 inches of bedding. It may have had a chance.

When someone uses the saying they keep "hounding me" this is what it means. In the corner by the gun cabinet is his flirt pole. In that basket by the desk are his leashes. He is not giving up. This has been going on all morning.

Think he wants to go out and roll in the snow? My Golden used to love that! Er, what is a flirt pole?

My chickens drink out of dog bowls and don’t spill it ever. Now we use heated dog bowls for winter. I did put it inside just during the day yesterday when they wouldn’t come out. Today, the sunshine is calling….and they are venturing out and discovering it won’t kill them.

A flirt pole is basically a cat toy for dogs. It is his favorite thing in the world to do. Well, next to eating.

Well not one hen ventured out of their coops today... only the birds were eating out of the food bowl in Coop Uno. They can't get to the food in Coop Deux but then the hens can't get out in a chicken yard either.

I did see Betty Boop standing in the doorway of Coop Uno looking out...
