Way to go Kaylee!!!! Good job, girl! And a big congrats to you for your Silkie win! I'm telling you folks, this gal has some GORGEOUS Silkies!!! That Polish looks right at home in Kaylee's arms...LOL

teddiliza Thanks for that report. I really thought about going, but just had soooooo much to get done around here. I cleaned every pen and every run in the breeder barn and Layers coop, then changed around alot of birds.

I am exhausted! I got rid of enough of my extras roos, I was able to close down 3 pens of roosters, and put breeders back into them (mostly new layers and their roo in each one). My Layers Coop now is home to 40 grow-outs for the winter.

muddyhorse BIG congratulations to you!

There were about 950 birds at the Sedalia show. I brought a few cochins and I did pretty good with them. I can;t remember who got best of show, but Champion bantam in the second show went to a Birchen Modern and Reserve went to a Black cochin hen/pullet. There were a lot of nice birds for sale and I picked up a few black cochins from someone in Minnesota. Someone brought in a bunch of bantam naked necks that were absolutely adorable and there were also a few Coronation Sussex. I was excited to see the Sussex because I've never gotten a chance to come face to face with that variety.

I also liked the way they kind of mixed the junior show in with the open show. It is different from what I am used to, but it's nice to see how my birds compare to open birds and that is probably why the show lasted a little bit later than normal. From what I understand, they judged all the birds, then went through and picked the Junior class winners/ect. (ie, I had a black cochin cock that placed 3rd compared to the open birds, but placed 1st in the Junior show)

The enormous BO cockerel won best in show.

there is a new swap !!!! 3rd sat of the month. Family Center (farm store) in Bonne Terre just off hwy 67 at hwy K. a friend went and said it was really well attended Starts at 7:00 am

I saw that about the new swap. I would have gone but our daughter was here over the weekend from Michigan. Will there be one next month? IF so, I'll plan to go.

Are any of you going to the show in Shawnee, OK in December? I am planning to go to it. I think it is 275 miles from me. I am too far from Ohio, so will miss that one. Any other ones I should catch before Dec? I am new to all this. The one show I went to in Sedalia this summer was a disappointment, so I have not been to another. I am interested in large fowl, and especially Heritage birds.

I'm not sure how close you are to the Arkansas border, But the show in Fayettville is coming up. It is the weekend of November 6 and there are usually a ton of birds there for sale. (From what I've heard. This is the first time we are attending, but we are just going there to buy birds)

I am taking a few cochins to Shawnee as well
