calling any one from missouri

Sounds like Sedalia would have been fun to see. I would love to have seen the bantams, as that is what my son and I are really in love with right now. The BB Reds especially.

I have been in a dilemma for a while and need some opinions. My BB Red boys are due to be dubbed, as in any day. My husband thinks its abuse to cut them. I don't want to but know there are benefits. Of course the main reason we plan to do it is for the fair. The judge said his roo this year could not win if it wasn't dubbed, due to standards. But I also know that it prevents frost bite, which granted doesn't happen all that much here in Central Mo, but can. Frankly, it scares me to dub. I can do it and will but I just have to work up the nerve. I think the boys are incredibly handsome as they are but the point of raising the boys is to show them. Any comments?

Put the light and timer in the chicken house tonight. Refilled the nest boxes and cleaned out some cobwebs. I guess its called fall cleaning. Loved every minute of it.

there are tons of experienced OEGB breeders in the area. find one and have them help you. it is best if somebody walks you threw it. we decided to only show our boys as cockerels so they don't have to be dubbed. after he is a year he will stop showing. or we may sell them and get something else, either seramas or d'anvers.

The Sedelia show was awesome! We did great too with both our Silkies and our Polish. You can see our results on my picturetrail. www.picturetrail.com/crestedhorizon

was wondering if anyone around the Kansas City area would be interested in pet quality chickens? I am getting rid of severel to make room for a new variety project. Here are the birds I have that need a new home. 2 blue pullet Silkies. 1 large fowl and 1 bantam Americana. 1 white Silkie Cock with a crooked beak

Hey everyone. I am looking for some specific breeds of bantams. I want a golden phoenix pair and/or silver duckwing pair or just roos. Also looking for bantam polish. Don't want to order from a hatchery. Any names would be appreciated.

I did it. I finally worked up the nerve to dub my first rooster last night. It went well. It was the initial cut that was the hardest. I only dubbed one to see how it went but will wait to dub his brother after the first one heals. I actually think he looks pretty tough. Do I wish it wasn't necessary-absolutely. But the truth is, he had a very spikey comb that probably would have got frostbite if we had a hard winter. Now at least we can tell the difference between Peep and Chirp.

Kirksville, MO here have 3 SLW, 3 RIR, 3 Black Australorp hens & 1 rooster, and a white hen that a clover kid needed a home for. Will be looking for show quality chickens come 2011, dont know what breeds yet as the girls have not decided, I do know we are looking for mainly pullets d/t I dont want to cull any more and I dont have the space nor money for the extra feed bill. If you will have show quality chickens in early 2011, send me a pm. Thanks

Congrats on getting the nerve, I have one that needs to be done and wasn't going to do it since he will never be shown but I might now b/c of the frost bite issue you mentioned.
