What kind are you looking for? I have lots of roosters! Ameracauna's EE's and leghorn mix. They are beautiful and so far, good boys. About 7 months. I am in Jefferson County.

Since we are talking about the cold- what kinds of things do you give your birds in the winter to prevent picking. Last winter, my poor polish was half bald due to pecking. Of course, I no longer have my buff orpingtons and they were the instigators last winter. I always keep feed for them and try to give plenty of corn and scraps from the kitchen. I also tied a cabbage on a string and that seemed to be a hit. I have heard several talk about oatmeal.

that's a good question... i noticed my 1 Polish had a peck spot on her head last night... Tonight it's better. My DH said we should put neosporin on it. I said no, you can't do that. Of course he thinks I'm wrong but am I? I really don't know. Is neosporin safe for chickens?

Yes Neosporin is safe for chickens and is OK! Yea if they are pecking you need to keep the blood down so they don't start a frenzy!! I have feed a little bit of everything
Oatmeal with Raisins
Turnip greens
Head of Cabbage
BOSS (Bought a 50 lb bag at the feed store for $18 )
Leftovers Including Scrambled Eggs and meat scraps (Someone said Chicken but that seemed JUST WRONG

somehow)
They are craving green stuff and protein

I also feed food scraps. Can't imagine how much more trash we would have without the two legged garbage disposals. I try to avoid giving them chicken too. But I did throw out the leftover chicken noodle soup to them today. Mostly noodles, little chicken left. It was quite a sight to see my chickens and cats side by side fighting over the scraps.

I guess the weather is turning to crab tomorrow night. May not get much snow but ohhh is it going to be cold.

Only 1 week left til we hopefully have babies.
