calling any one from missouri

misschickenlittle; I can always part with some of the girls, if you are serious. It might make it easier for the hubby to accept the new little ones I am getting that he STILL hasn't heard about, LOL How many did you want and how do you want to do it? They are almost a year old...April 14th.
How soon did you want them? Just let me know if you are serious. Deb

I am struggling with the decision of whether I should get rid of of my mottled cochins. I just lost a hen from being egg bound so I have to hens and 2 roos remaining. I am so dissapointed because although they are all very sweat, she was one of the sweetest! I am mad at myself for not noticing but I really didn't. I did notice that they weren't laying as many eggs but thought it was the bitter cold and the snow we had.
I have a lot of other chickens but these were my favs and I think maybe I should just go back to my egg producers!

Don't beat yourself up over the hen being egg bound. My fav chicken died from it, too. Not a thing you could do if that happens sad to say. I have one weird cochin roo who insists on giving himself a bath!!!!!!!!!! of all things and in this weather. I don't know how to stop him. I go into the coop and he is always soaked. I have stood and watched him dip his beak and bath himself. I have actually seen icicles many times on his head and back?? Too weird. It will either kill him or make him strong and since he has been doing this all winter...I believe he is going to make it.

The Weather Channel just reported over 900 schools in the St. Louis area are closed.
The band of snow is really tight here. Right along I-70 and just to the north. South St. Louis only has 2". We got walloped. It's over my boot tops here. All the cars didn't get turned around in our driveway last night, I think some are there to stay for a few days. It's a long sloping gravel driveway = not an easy way to plow it and with big trees all around snow takes forever to melt.

I just finished this field house yesterday for my 13 week old birds and moved some of them into it yesterday afternoon.

Someone on here last night said we were supposed to get some snow (misschickenlittle). Thanks a lot. I had to go out and sweep off the sidewalk and some of the grass before my little chihuahua would go outside to go potty. Then since I had my big boots that come up to my knees on, thought I would go down and check the chickens. They went nuts when I went in the pen to open their outside door. Guess they thought I was an alien or something since they have never seen me in the boots, just shoes. Poor things went flying from one end to the other. Guess I had better take shoes down there and change next time. Sure hope this stops soon, starting to look a lot like MI.

Chicken canoe - WOW! You got more snow than we did here, but it's still coming down...

MI Transplant - That looks like about what we got here.
