Smoothmule- I think you beat us. As best I can measure, we have 16 inches. It is gorgeous outside though. And not that cold right now.

I just finished shoveling a path from our back door to our kitty garage door. I know my cats "think" they want to go out so I figured I would shovel a path so they can out out one door and in the other. It is crazy deep.

My boys are going to shovel a path to the chicken house. Its a good way to expel energy from being cooped up all day yesterday.

I tried getting on our 4-wheeler and it would not go through the snow, even in 4- wheel drive. You can't even see that we have a road.

The one good news- my chickies are snug as a bug and laying like crazy.

Oh, WHERE IS SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so cold out there and knee deep snow... grrrrr

I heard we have 22 inches... haven't measured but I'd believe it! I'll have to post pictures (if I can get them to post, I always have problems with that..??) My DH shoveled a path to the coop yesterday morning, afternoon, and again this morning. The girls are good, except they are not happy about the snow.

I have been out shoveling all Day! We shoveled our driveway, the neighbors driveway, my Sister's driveway, an area outside for the dogs to go potty and a path down to the chicken house! That was a lot of shoveling now we just have to wait for the plows to make it down our road. We may get plowed out before the weekend.

I am not sure how much we got but I would venture to say at least 20 inches. Some of the drifts were about 3 foot or better. The sun popping out was a great relief!
The girls are happy they laid 9 eggs and we usually get 4-6! I do have a few more starting to lay.

Hope everyone is doing well and is safe. Don't over do the shoveling and remember your elderly neighbors.

Davony chicks, You got way more snow that we did in the south west corner. In the middle of the driveway it was at my ankle but other places it was up to my knees. My dad got his two wheel truck stuck at the bottom of the driveway so went out to dig him out. MEN!! Shoveled a path to the chicken house and for my little chihuahua to go potty. Been out checking on the chickens and they are content to stay in and out of the snow. Hope you get plowed out soon.

yall wanna see something funny, let 4 mini pot bellies out of the barn in 13 inches of snow!

little suckers were running to fast to stop when the hit the snow<,and all 4 buried themselves head first.

you should have heard the sqealing and seen the snow moving. didnt take them long to find their way back to the barn!

after they got back in the barn and warmed up a little, they wandered back out and made themselves some trails. now they can wander around the pen.

Here is mid-Mo, the bottom dropped out of the thermometer early this am, -7, but the hens in their indoor pen in the barn were doing fine. Yesterday we shoved an 8' area from in front of their outdoor coop which has a pop door underneath that joins the outdoors and the indoor pen. Hens do range back and forth from out to in and that relieves the crowded condition if they were trapped full time indoors. That pen is 10 x 12 and has raised nest boxes they like to jump up into. We gave up shoveling a path from house to barn during the blizzard Tuesday, but yesterday's bright sun and lessened wind encouraged us to get back to work. We shoveled the long sidewalk joining our home and our son's place and another long path from our house to the barn, around barn, and an area in the chicken yard. A wonderful neightbor plowed out our long drive so we're no longer cabin bound! Giving the hens oyster shell in addition to their treats and layer mash since they don't have access to gravel/grit in their chicken yard. Reports said 17.5 inches here, but our drifts ran up to 4+ feet. Historical storm, I think. Just cannot comprehend that I70 closed 24 hours and MU is closed a third day. I'm heading out to the hens now with warm oatmeal/leftovers treats and greens donated to our flock by local grocery-bless them Everyone, stay safe and warm. ~G

We were able to get out this morning after crews worked late last night. Made it to Moberly where most of the stores had remained closed until today and they were struggling to get caught up! The snow piled along the roads is crazy! It feels like you are driving in a tunnel.
We are supposed to have another 2 inches by Saturday but that wont be any big deal!

I guess some of you all down south just didn't get hit that bad which is good for you.

I dug open the chicken run door to let a little light into the house. No one even peeked out. I will close it up tonight though because of the wind chill. I may go up there and dig the whole run out to coax them into getting fresh air. My phoenix chicks really want to get out of the isolation cage but when I let them, the big hens peck them. I think I will wait til closer to Spring (whenever that is) to give them an opportunity to get bigger first. The chicks are really getting gorgeous.

No school tomorrow-4th day in a row. My students will never want to sit still whenever we do get back. But my boys and I did get out, with 4-wheel drive, and went to town to run errands and simply get out of the house. Can you say 6 day weekend?

Mefordz- funny story. My middle son says he wants a pot bellied pig whenever we move to a farm (2 year goal).
