Welcome everyone. Ah the days of 'Just a few laying hens'... I remember that. And I just hatched out 17 bantam d'uccles from my own flock! Out of their mamas, I have 3 that are Mille fleur and the other 11 are porcelain. All the papas are porcelain. I do have some unrest going on in the chicken yard now that my Jersey Giant Roo has discovered his purpose. He is quite clumsy being bigger than the Langshans and my d'uccle roos are just looking at him saying 'amateur!'. I may sell him after this April show before he breaks one of my Langshan hen's backs or necks trying to do his duty. He's so darn pretty and glossy black, but he's so huge... Oh what to do...
And I'm loving my little speckled sussexes growing in the garage. The favorelles are warming up to me now too.

Well, I was trying to increase my laying hen population, so I bought 8 hens from a farmer, they were all moulting, and are doing fine now. I then bought 8 more off a guy that was getting out of the chicken business( feed too high!) The problem is, none of them are laying... It has been weeks, and nothing. Any ideas.. They are all healthy and friendly girls...
