calling any one from missouri

davony's chicks :

Happy to see we have more new comers, Welocme all! Our chicken family just keeps growing and growing and growing!

Missy, Too bad about your incubator. I hope your broody hen does a better job for you.
And yes I think it is a good idea to sign our posts. It is much easier to respond to a name than a long screen name.

7 of my 11 remaining eggs hatched yesterday. I am going to give the last 4 one more day but I think they died for whatever reason.
I hatched all 5 of the black/split to lavender, 1 partridge and 1 red that she sent me.
Here is a picture of them.

I went to the feed store and couldn't resist buying some new chicks! CRAZY! As I just ordered another dozen eggs from wwmicasa1
She is sending me a dozen consisting of Mille Fleur, Buff Barred & Black Barred. I hope to actually hatch some of the milles out of this bacth. The last two batches I have gotten I didn't get any milles due to the storm ruining the one hatch and broken eggs on another hatch.
I hear wwmicasa1 has absolutely beautiful birds!

Here are some pics of the new babies I bought today. I know they are all bantam cochins but one looks to be a red and one a partridge and the light colored what I am not sure of.

Tony

Such cuties!

Tony - Those new fluffy chicks are SOOOO cute! I'm pea green with envy. I'm a nervous nesting mother over here, going over my to-do list and fretting like crazy. I went to the pet store tonight and checked out their supply, but I can see that they are much more expensive than a feed store. They did have a super cute little birdie ladder that I thought would be adorable for the chicks to play on once they are a little bigger.

Thanks for the thoughts on my bum hens, he said they were 2 years old, and that his is their first moult. But just like you all said my other girls have quit laying also.. I will try increasing the protein. Hey Raytown, you are not too far from me, I am in Odessa, but work in lees summit!

Tony -

I'll definitely post pictures! I think I'm getting 3 black star girlie chicks. I'll see what she has when I get there, but I really want to make sure I don't get a roo and apparently you can tell boys from girls with that breed. I'd hate to get a roo and have to rehome my new buddy!

Thanks for the link SuziQ! I'll have to check it out.

One more week and Jacobs cave time! I can't decide when I want to go... Thursday after work or Saturday! Not that I'll be buying anything... hehe...

I think I'll try the increase in protein too. Maybe that will help my girls. I don't have a way to isolate the roo like MI mentioned because the dog crate is being used by the DOG! Imagine that, a dog in a dog crate... who'da thunk?

Hi Julie, I'm another Julie:P. I live in KC. I know what you mean about the roos, mine got his head chopped off a few weeks ago for going after my toddler. Think the 5 chicks I got are all roos though...
