calling any one from missouri

Julie- the only kind of mean rooster to have is the kind in your crock pot. If drop kicking him doesn't get the point across, get rid of him. I only keep roos that know they are in charge with the hens, not with the people.

My plan is to go to Jacobs Cave on Friday. Hope to beat the rush. I really hope Spring can find its way back before then.

Missy

Current weather says it will be in the 40's for Jacobs Cave. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going out to chicken house to make sure food and water supply is good before this freakin snow comes.

Missy B get yourself some poultry show conditioner/ game bird supplement. It smells like licorice and comes in little pellets. I feed it to mine for treats and it really brings out glossy feathers. For the foot feathers, free ranging = broken feathers. My young chickens on DEEP dry pine shavings do grow them back, but only when they're somewhat confined for a month. I also did have them in separate cages. If you want to stop by my house on the way back from Jacob's Cave I'll GIVE you some eggs for your broody.

Teddi- Thanks, I may take you up on your offer. As for the foot feathers, I just know that a lot broke off over the winter. The fair is not til July so I may wait until school is out, then separate them to let their feathers grow back in. I will look into the supplemental feed too.

Seriously? SNOW

The first day of spring break for us and we get this. I have nothing more to say except the Farmer's Almanac was right. Darn them. I really want to hibernate. Someone text me when spring is actually here.

So if I have a few birds that I might want to get rid of, do I just load them up and take them with me to Jacob's Cave? How do I go about selling them and shopping at the same time?

If anyone is interested- I want to sell one of my 1 year old bantam BB Red roos (he is dubbed) and a male and female bantam silver phoenix(about 3-4 months old). The BB RED because we are showing his brother, so we don't need him. The phoenixes because of their green legs. If you are interested in a gorgeous phoenix pair, only with nonstandard green legs, let me know. If the weather straightens up, I will post picks of them.
