At the maximum that will fit 9 chickens. The minimum recommendation is 4 square feet per full grown chicken.

A coop that is 4x4 is only large enough for 4 chickens. Doesn't matter what the height is. If the run is 4x5, it is recommended at least 10 sq feet per chicken outside, that is 20 sq feet - enough for 2 chickens.

My thoughts are , the bigger the better , cause you know how that chicken math gets . 6 chickens suddenly become 20 . lol

Hi, my name is Jenny from Greenfire Farms. I need some help from someone in Kansas City. Any poultry meet ups around there? Or any poultry folks with a big heart willing to help some rare chickens???

Well, last year, we lent a blue birchen Marans rooster to a gentleman in Kansas City. He's really gifted with poultry genetics and wanted to do a project with the bird and maybe produce some hens to pair with him... Since then, his health has taken a turn for the worst and he's lost a lot of birds due to the inability to care for them. He has no family, so he's been trying his best to care for himself and can't get around well enough to routinely feed, etc. He had a neighbor helping out but the neighbor stopped helping him, I don't know why. At this point, it seems like he'd be willing to just adopt out his birds to anyone that would be willing to take on fostering. The other part of the mission is to save this blue birchen rooster and have him shipped back to us. Apparently he has red mites right now and the guy hasn't been able to treat for them. That's why I'm saying this will require a big hearted chicken lover. If you take on some of his birds, I don't know what their state is. You might want to just go and look at them first before you commit? At any rate, if someone is willing to help, we'd definitely reward you with some Greenfire credit and many many thanks. I know he feels really bad about how bad the place has gotten and I've finally convinced him to see if we can try to find someone willing to help him out. I appreciate any input y'all might have! Thanks.
