CALLING TERRIE! (and all other duck masters)

The only time I worry about them drinking too much is if they were shipped. Then they are very thirsty when I get them and can drink too much and get water logged. In that case, I let them have the water for a few minutes and take it away for 15 - 20 minutes. I repeat 4 or 5 times, then put the water in and leave it (as long as they are eating and starting to lose interest in the water). If these guys weren't shipped, as long as they are eating I wouldn't worry. Even if you don't see them eat, just watch the food dish. And make sure that you are feeding unmedicated feed. I think I read that the stuff in the medicated food (amprollium, I think?) can be deadly to waterfowl. I usually start them on gamebird starter.

I know that my 4 ducklings seem to wear more than they drink. they splash it out, spill it out of their little bills, and seem to almost live at the water bowl. I have noticed the "social drinking" thing mentioned earlier, too. Mine will drool, drip, and splash all their water out then scream for more. These guys just LOVE their water!
