Pictures just do not do these call ducks Justice. Their colors are so much prettier in real life.. Their feathers are kind of iridescent so they change with the lighting.

Nutty and Honey

Honey got her name by bein a special kind of stupid and getting stuck upside down in the water trough.
I saved her feathered behind and said "oh honey you poor thing"
And the name stuck.
Like honey.

Well.. I knew it could be dangerous for the small ones. It was a concrete mixing tub with a board I fixed over the middle of it so they could drink out of both sides and not get in it. I thought they were all big enough already. Nope. These burds are accident prone.

Seriously i mean.. my calls have as secure of a run and house as one could ask for but i cant keep them safe from themselves.
Any small space they can manage to wedge themselves into they gonna try it. Including partial bags of shavings in a plastic bag I found one shoved in and stuck one day nearly suffocated. I'm sure she has brain damage now.
My favorite one died due to wedging herself between the wall and a crate i had sitting there and she got stuck.
Another one died in a water bowl that was too deep without a ramp.. i assumed they would use their wings and fly out. Nope. Could be she was pushed under by the others but idk.

Yeah, they do baffling things sometimes... No matter how much we think things are safe, they'll find a way to prove us wrong.
