Came for the chickens, stayed for the quail.

Hello bird people!

I've wanted chickens for years, but only recently started doing research on raising them. After reading some of the super helpful posts from other users here, I realized that chickens aren't for me. I just don't have the means to keep them safely in my neighborhood and let them roam free. I was pretty disappointed, but I kept looking around for solutions.

That's when I discovered Coturnix quail.

Now I've got 16+ eggs coming tomorrow and an incubator warm and ready. Even if it's a disaster, I've had a lot of fun making plans. These will be pets, not food, so I'm hoping for a half-decent hatch rate. In the meantime, I'll be starting construction on their aviary/run (weather permitting) and reading everything I can get my hands on regarding these little birds.

Great that you could join us all here! Good luck with your quail hatch. They sure are lots of fun and so cute when they hatch, like little bumble bees. I have 20 that I hatched at Easter and I’m enjoying them very much. I’m sure you will too.
