Camera for a Novice

Thank you for another great tip! I will see if I can find the booklet that came with it (hubby bought the camera years ago) to see if I can find out how to turn it on to "sports" mode, then see what kind of luck that I have!

Look on your camera for a symbol of a guy running, that is sports mode. Many have a people, mountain, sport and close up mode.

There is a difference between shutter speed, will stop a runner in mid air, and shutter lag, shutter lag is the time it takes the camera from the time you press the shutter and when it actually takes the photo.

I would reccommend the Kodak Easy Share also. I loved ours, until it was dropped and broken.
We replaced it with a Canon point and shoot, but I really liked the Easy Share better.

When we bought it, it came with a printer that you could dock the camera onto and then print pictures right off the camera. It also came with cables so you could plug it into a TV and show look at the pictures on the TV (as long as the TV had the right inputs that is).

Carols Clucks - You're the BEST!! Thank you so much for the wonderful tips that you're providing!

wyo Dreamer - I have a list of cameras to look at, thanks to you and these great people here on BYC! Will be making a trip to town to Best Buy or somewhere to look and compare this weekend! In the mean time, I will look for the camera manual for the one we have and see if I can find the sports mode. The camera we currently have is a Konica Minolta DIMAGE G600 - hubby bought it, uses it and if I mess up something on it, I am in for it!!!!
