So I cut the tent up!

I ended up with a nice square tarp with looped edges for tying down and I'm going to see how a window panel will fit on the chicken's run wall as a tarp-like windbreaker piece.

I've mentioned it to my partner more than once, especially after a cleaning day and especially seeing as they don't live near us but a couple of miles away.

I'd LOVE to stay near them for sure.

LOL..After we built one of the new coops. I put 3 bags of fresh pine shaving in it. It was a sunny Fall day-55 degrees. I sat down in the new bedding and fell fast asleep for hours in the coop on the floor. WOke up to birds snuggled all around me:) One of the best days I have ever had!. I did that all Fall on weekends. Each time I empty out coops-from head to toe-I always sit and snooze:)

I couldn't really vote on it because, though I was near my hen house, I didn't do it to be with the chickens but with the dogs. I keep a pillow, blanket and a chair in my dog barn, which is located next to the henhouse. Many a night is spent star-gazing with the pups and solving world problems, talking with God and counting shooting stars.

I've often felt it is kind of wrong to expect the pooches to come inside to enjoy my company when it is just as easy to visit their environment for awhile. That way they don't miss all the wonderful night smells, nocturnal movements of animals and the cool, fresh night air. They seem to love it when I get down on their level in their domain. I especially love to go out there in the winter and snuggle under a down comforter....the stars are best in the winter. Sometimes I fall asleep there and awaken to find that the dogs have went about their nightly rounds and left me to my slumbering. After all, they have a job to do....

The chickens? I don't disturb their slumber, as they are not nocturnal and are not real comfortable with anyone but themselves in their bedchamber at night.
